Designing is usually equated with “making something pretty.” As a communication designer, I see myself primarily as a visual problem solver. In order to translate complex messages and information into a simple visual language, I have to familiarize myself with different subject areas and feel my way. This results in a solution tailored to the problem. This can also be “pretty”.

The German Highway

A magazine about the highway.

The German highway is a place that many people don’t consciously think about. It is simply a road to get from A to B as quickly as possible. But can it also be more? The magazine deals with various aspects of the highway. People are introduced who make this place their own in order to live out their lives there. Rooms are also shown where you can recover from the stress of highways. The cultural influence of expressways outside of Germany is also presented.
Can’t the German highway stand for more? Or is it just a place where you can race without a speed limit?
