My name is Per Hendrik Lienau and my focus is illustration and media design. I prefer to draw and animate on my iPad. Despite my fear of most marine animals, I am fascinated by marine biology. I love not only writing academic papers, but also illustrating them.
If I could, I would study 10 more semesters, take all the design projects and especially the media theory courses.
Noise pollution on the world's oceans
Who are the biggest victims of noise pollution? Who are the main noise producers and what relief measures for animals are realistic?
What do our oceans actually sound like?
Instead of idyllic whale songs, there is a constant level of noise on and in the seas. Blue whales should actually be able to communicate across the entire globe. However, according to current measurements, their sound waves no longer reach their original range. And that’s not all. Starving marine animals sometimes swim disorientated through the seas, collide with ships or suddenly become stranded. Populations are being decimated and raising young bulls is almost impossible. The most likely cause for this: various man-made noise sources. But which of these noise generators are responsible for the main suffering of marine wildlife and what solutions are there to reduce noise?
