My name is Hanna Hannig and I am an illustrator. I completed my bachelor’s degree at the Folkwang University of the Arts. I’ve been working with comics ever since. I particularly like the free storytelling. Illustrations open up space for topics that are difficult to express in any other way. As part of my studies, I completed an internship at Reprodukt Verlag, where I now work.
Cursed summer of 1999
Cursed Summer 1999 is a young adult comic that explores themes of friendship, doubt, courage and family conflict.
It’s the summer of 1999 and Anni is spending the holidays with her father in the country. He and his girlfriend just bought an old house in the middle of the forest. Anni and her dog UFO quickly become friends with the kids from the village when Anni finds out about a curse that is said to be on the old house. The friends soon fear that the entire area is affected by the curse and that the adults’ problems are also ominously linked to it. During a rainy summer, the secrets are revealed and a storm brings the truth to light. “Cursed Summer 1999” explores themes of friendship, doubt and courage as Anni and her friends leave the childish world behind.
